We live in a fast-paced world that moves at breakneck speed. But if there’s one time when you need to slow down a little and leave your vehicle at rest for awhile, it’s when you have the glass in your vehicle replaced.
You see, your windshield does much more than just protect you from weather and insects. Your windshield also acts as a safety shield for the passengers in your vehicle. Your windshield and side window glass are part of your vehicle’s passenger restraint system and must be installed properly in order for airbags to deploy safely and effectively. The windshield also aids in occupant retention, keeping passengers in the car in the case of an accident.
In order for an auto glass replacement to be completed properly, the adhesive used in that replacement must have the proper time to cure and create a bond between the glass and the car. This time is called minimum drive-away time. It is the length of time the vehicle should remain stationary after any auto glass installation to allow proper bonding. Minimum drive-away times vary by the type and brand of adhesive used, the atmospheric conditions at the time of replacement and many other factors. Your auto glass replacement professional will brief you on the minimum drive-away time for your replacement. It is important that your vehicle remain stationary until the minimum drive-away time has elapsed. Even though this can be an inconvenience, it is extremely important that the car
remain stationary for this length of time.

Doing so would violate the Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standard (AGRSS®) and is not permitted under the AGRSS Standard.
